The Black Keys Poster

Hand-drawn poster honouring The Black Keys, an American rock duo formed in Akron, Ohio. The group consists of Dan Auerbach, vocal and guitar, as well as Patrick Carney on the drums.

The talented duo has been blessing in since 2001 with garage rock, blues rock, punk blues and indie rock.

The inspiration behind the illustration came from the band's name. It comes from an expression used by one of their friends, schizophrenic artist Alfred McMoore. “He would call people he doesn't like D Flats and Black Keys,” Patrick explains.

This is why the piano's keys are spiraling around a musician with a Rubix cube head, evoking the complexity that is mental health.
Taking a leaf out of Patrick Carney's book, who often says perfection is boring, there is a lot of movement and room for creativity in the illustration.

Just like their music, this drawing breaks the mold and reminds our possibilities are endless.
