Bon Iver Poster

Hand-drawn poster honoring Bon Iver, the American indie folk band founded in 2006 by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon.

The name "Bon Iver" derives from the French phrase bon hiver "good winter”.

The narrative behind the print is directly taken from both how listening to the stunning indie notes combined with Justin Vernon’s yearning vocals makes you feel inside, and how the music originally
came to be.

The soft tunes make the listener feel safe. Some say it’s the perfect soundtrack for sitting by the fire, with a hot drink looking at the snow slowly falling outside, and reconnecting with some idea of a true self.

Such scenery is responsible for Justin Vernon’s inspiration, as he retreated to a cabin in the woods of Wisconsin to record songs in the winter, this is what he would have seen whilst looking out of the
window.

Justin Vernon is no stranger to drawing surrealist, fantastical, dreamlike worlds. In his lyrics, the objects speak in a way that evokes multiple readings at once, asking to be adopted and infused with new life, representing meaningful places, times, and tools.

This led to the creation of almost a Rosetta stone of Bon Iver’s work, with visuals taken from mesmerizing Bon Iver’s most beautiful songs.

Come down the rabbit hole of Justin Vernon’s mesmerizing genius.
