Hand-drawn poster honouring Queens of the Stone Age, an American rock band formed in 1996. The band was founded by Josh Homme who has been the only constant member, it also features Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore.
The playing card design with the suit replaced with their logo is a link to the Queen part of the band's name which came from a nickname given to Josh's previous band, Kyuss, by their producer.
The queen's portrait here is of a skull, a reminder that Josh Homme was once pronounced legally dead for several seconds due to complications during knee surgery in 2010.
Indeed the band is no stranger to playing with danger, for example, the lyrics “Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, Marijuana, Ecstasy and Alcohol” for “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer” are just simply listing what was Josh's system at the time, represented as the pills above the queen's hand.
Above them is a broken lightbulb, part of the cover of their album Era Vulgaris.
The devil horns and wings are a nod to the recurring devil in most of their artwork and merch.
The dark scenery is softened by California poppies and palm trees from Palm Desert, a link golden state where the band is based and where Josh grew up.
Framing everything is a clock, to remind us of their 6th fantastic album ...Like Clockwork released in 2013.
